the stash - stashed it - stash edit was a blog about a collection of dresses and the memories they held. in ‘frocktober’ i wore a different dress everyday for the month of october. if we liked it, i kept it; if we didn't, it went. the blog acted as a memorial to the dress and their stories, and a time in my life, years ago. the stories of my dresses today are now told on instagram.

Old faithful.
Every girl owns that one dress in their stash, that one dress that when she puts it on she feels fine, that one dress that you know you can chuck on and you'll look presentable, that one dress that you can feel invisible and invincible in. This is my dress.
This dress was given to me by a friend, Anna, when I worked at a book store over 4 years ago. From recollection, Anna purchased it from a second hand store between here and Napier. Anna always dresses well, impeccable actually. Her hair always looks like shes just stepped out of a salon and she always has runway fresh accessories. Anna did an English Literature degree while we worked at the book store, she then became an accountant and now she is a fashion designer. I will always love her for thinking of me and giving me this dress.
As you'll see, the dress has big pockets (I can fit three beers in each). It also has a low back, a bit sexy, which I like. And it can actually be reversed. I'll take a picture later of it the other way around. In this picture I have my Chucks on as I have to walk to work. I'd usually wear it with sheer tights and chucks or heels. I'll 'recreate' that look later.
I wore this dress to my Grandfather's funeral. It was a very very hot Central Otago day. I wept all over it. At first I thought I shouldn't wear it again, but I like that every now and then I think of him during the days I wear it and remember being surrounded by hundreds of his friends and family as we remembered him, my shit-stirring, hard-working, loyal Grandfather Graeme.
