the stash - stashed it - stash edit was a blog about a collection of dresses and the memories they held. in ‘frocktober’ i wore a different dress everyday for the month of october. if we liked it, i kept it; if we didn't, it went. the blog acted as a memorial to the dress and their stories, and a time in my life, years ago. the stories of my dresses today are now told on instagram.

A Gisborne Gem
The next dress from my stash (yes it's a dress) was purchased in Gisborne in February for about $12 including the belt from a hokohoko (secondhand) shop. Syd, Ati and I were visiting friends, I was working and it was hot hot hot. If I see something I might like at a Hospice Shop I generally buy it without thinking twice.
On the trip I was lucky enough to carve a taonga from stone with a dear friend of ours, Anaru. He makes traditional Māori tools the old way, stone on stone, rubbing, chipping, rubbing, flaking and rubbing in water and sand, it's hard work but deeply rewarding and I will never look at a toki (adze) the same way again.
Frocktober: 31 dresses, 31 days. A method to go through my stash of dresses, record memories and dispose of the unneeded.
