Designer military

"do something interesting for this photo"
This morning was the first day I changed my dress. I put on a teal frock from the stash with my new shoes and it was just too good of an outfit to not save up for a day when I need a goodie. I'm conscious of the fact that I have 23 days left and I've got a few 'events' to attend. That's not to say that this dress is not great. This morning was a bit of a rush to get to work so I took the second picture at work. (Thanks Brenda)
I love this picture in the meeting room at work. When my friend from work leaves I hope he gets to take it with him; today was the day he buried his Papa and I thought about him and his family lots. The print used to be in his office where I always knew I was in trouble if he closed the door.

This dress is by a Dunedin designer Akimbo. I had it made for me when I was in first year of University. I was going to a fashion show and went to Akimbo (which was behind the Dunedin Public Art Gallery) to see if they had anything. I found this really cute top and I asked if they had any dresses of it. She said they didn't but said she'd make me one. She measured me up and the next day my dress was ready. I felt like a princess (a military one). It's khaki and wool and warm as.

About 4 years ago I took a picture of myself every day. In the middle of my wee self indulged picture fest I was working at Toitu Otago Settlers Museum (in the middle of winter) and wore the dress a bit. Here are the pictures I could find of me in this dress.
And just for fun, here is a picture taken now as I write.

  1. There is just something so special about a dress made from wool I reckon.
