I got this dress for an event. I had spilled something on the dress I was going to wear so I ran into Glassons on the way to the event and got this dress for $20. I adore one shoulder tops/dresses and this is the only one I have but it really really is too small so it's going to go and live somewhere else.
I wore this dress today so I could wear my t.shirt over it. It looked like I had a netball skirt on so I didn't wear the top, instead I hung it over the chair like a flag. Today marks 6 years since the Tuhoe terror raids. The event has many names, the raids, the Tuhoe raids, the anti-terror raids, Operation 8, the Urewera raids. My friend wrote this for NZHistory.net which tells a little bit about the event or just google any of the above names to find out more.
On that day children were dragged from their homes, people over the age of 50 were thrown to the ground, parents were torn away from their children and all of them had guns pointed at them by people in masks wearing black clothing. I know these stories because I have heard them told directly to me. I have read many more stories about the raids, the most recent a report that found that the raids were illegal. The police broke the law they apparently uphold. We must tell these stories so people do not forget.
The raids affected people that are now my dear friends, family and partner. These people are not terrorists. We must remember.
